I guess everyone says “I didn’t plan on this” or “the timing is terrible” when they get diagnosed with cancer but, for me, the timing is REALLY terrible. It’s no secret that my “big life change” this year was supposed to be my cross-country move to Denver but, smack in the middle of my move, a very kind radiologist said the words “I expect the result to be cancer”. Nice lady, shit sentence.
The week before I left for Denver, I felt a lump on my breast. Instead of bouncing between doctors in different states, I opted to see a new OB-GYN in Denver. Dr. Arceneaux was able to see me right away, and I was sitting in her exam room the first Monday after I arrived in Denver. The very next day, she had an appointment set up for me to get a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy.
And just like that, less that 2 weeks after my 38th birthday I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I’m using a “CaringBridge” page to keep the general public updated on updates, but I wanted to start this separate blog as an outlet for myself. Part blog, part journal, part whatever, it’s a way for me to say what’s on my mind without clutter up the important facts of my journey.
